{"id":8099,"date":"2017-11-17T09:40:53","date_gmt":"2017-11-17T09:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=8099"},"modified":"2017-11-17T09:40:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-17T09:40:53","slug":"alex-marlow-mann-as-series-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2017\/11\/17\/alex-marlow-mann-as-series-editor\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex Marlow-Mann as series editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/staff\/marlow-mann.html\">Dr Alex Marlow-Mann<\/a>, Lecturer in Italian in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a>, is to be co-editor of a new book series, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Remapping-World-Cinema\/book-series\/RWC\">Remapping World Cinema<\/a><\/em><em>: Regional Tensions and Global Transformations, <\/em>\u00a0alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/staff\/profiles\/fcw\/stone-rob.aspx\">Professor Rob Stone (University of Birmingham),<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leeds.ac.uk\/arts\/profile\/20054\/573\/paul_cooke\">Professor Paul Cooke (University of Leeds)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leeds.ac.uk\/arts\/profile\/125052\/579\/stephanie_dennison\">Dr Stephanie Dennison (University of Leeds)<\/a>, to be launched on Thursday, 23 November 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The series rewrites the territory of contemporary world cinema, revising outdated assumptions of national cinemas, challenging complacent views of hegemonic film cultures and questioning common ideas of production, distribution and reception. It will remap established territories such as American, European and Asian cinema and explore new territories that exist both within and beyond nation-states such as regional cinemas and online communities, while also demarcating important contexts for global cinema such as festival circuits and the discipline of film studies itself.<\/p>\n<p>The launch event will comprise the presentation of the series\u2019 flagship volume <em>The Routledge Companion to World Cinema<\/em>, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/humanities.exeter.ac.uk\/modernlanguages\/staff\/faulkner\/\">Professor Sally Faulkner\u2019s<\/a> <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Middlebrow-Cinema\/Faulkner\/p\/book\/9781138777132\">Middlebrow Cinema<\/a><\/em>. All of the series editors will be present to present the Companion and the series alongside many of the contributors, and Professor Faulkner will deliver a special guest lecture.
