{"id":7983,"date":"2017-10-12T13:42:54","date_gmt":"2017-10-12T12:42:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=7983"},"modified":"2017-10-12T13:42:54","modified_gmt":"2017-10-12T12:42:54","slug":"joint-study-day-on-the-first-world-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2017\/10\/12\/joint-study-day-on-the-first-world-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint study day on the First World War"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Department of Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a> are hosting a co-organised joint study day this Saturday, 14 October 2017, entitled \u2018If the Kaiser Should Come: Defending Kent and the South-East during the Great War\u2019 to examine the county\u2019s defences in the First World War.<\/p>\n<p>The event is co-organised in conjunction with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentarchaeology.org.uk\">Kent Archaeological Society<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cka.moon-demon.co.uk\">Council for Kentish Archaeology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Kendell from <a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\">Historic England<\/a> will present on \u2018On Land\u2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/sspp\/departments\/warstudies\/people\/professors\/lambert.aspx\">Professor Andrew Lambert<\/a> (King\u2019s College London) will present on \u2018At Sea\u2019 and Victor Smith (Kent Archaeological Society) will present on \u2018In the Air\u2019. Simon Mason from Kent County Council\u2019s Heritage Conservation Group will present on \u2018Emergency Planning for Invasion\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The event begins at 2pm, and will be held in Lecture Theatre 1, Rutherford College.<\/p>\n<p>Admission is free to University of Kent students with their Kent ID.
