{"id":7894,"date":"2017-09-21T15:59:27","date_gmt":"2017-09-21T14:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=7894"},"modified":"2017-09-21T15:59:27","modified_gmt":"2017-09-21T14:59:27","slug":"open-event-discover-the-ancient-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2017\/09\/21\/open-event-discover-the-ancient-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Open event: \u2018Discover the Ancient World\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/staff\/wyles.html\">Dr Rosie Wyles<\/a>, Lecturer in Classical History and Literature in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Department of Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a>, has organised an open afternoon\u00a0\u2018Discover the Ancient World\u2019 to be held on Saturday 30 September 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The event is designed for teachers and students to learn more about Ancient Greece and Rome, and will feature writer and journalist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nataliehaynes.com\">Natalie Haynes<\/a>, as well as contributions for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/staff\/burden-strevens.html\">Dr Christopher Burden-Strevens<\/a>, Lecturer in Ancient History, and presentations from students. The event is part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/aceclassics.org.uk\">Advocating Classics Education<\/a> project, an AHRC-funded initiate to promote the teaching of classical subjects in secondary schools.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free to attend, and will begin at 2pm and run until 5.45pm.
