{"id":7705,"date":"2017-08-10T13:36:54","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T12:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=7705"},"modified":"2018-05-18T10:32:28","modified_gmt":"2018-05-18T09:32:28","slug":"secl-success-in-the-national-student-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2017\/08\/10\/secl-success-in-the-national-student-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"SECL success in the National Student Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestudentsurvey.com\/\">National Student Survey 2017<\/a>\u00a0(NSS) have now been released, revealing good news for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/index.html\">School of European Culture and Languages<\/a>\u00a0(SECL).<\/p>\n<p>The NSS is an independent UK-wide survey of all higher education institutions, providing an opportunity for final-year students to independently rate their experience at university.<\/p>\n<p>The survey ran from January until April this year, targeting students towards the end of their degree, and\u00a0the results were published\u00a0yesterday, on 9\u00a0August 2017.<\/p>\n<p>SECL saw several successes in the survey, with many ranking in the top ten: Comparative Literature and Italian scored 1st in the UK, German 7th, Linguistics 9th, and Hispanic Studies (Iberian) 9th. In addition, Philosophy also ranked highly at 12th in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, all SECL\u2019s subject areas scored extremely high for its teaching. The figures for the our\u00a0subjects for overall\u00a0satisfaction were as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Archaeology scored 78%<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Comparative Literature<\/a>\u00a0scored 96%<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Modern Languages<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0French\u00a0scored 84%, German 93%, Hispanic Studies (Iberian Studies) scored 95%, and Italian 100%<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">English Language &amp;\u00a0Linguistics<\/a>\u00a0scored 93%<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Philosophy<\/a>\u00a0scored 95%<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/thrs\/index.html\">Religious Studies<\/a>\u00a0scored 85%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Congratulations to all our\u00a0staff for providing excellent teaching and support to achieve this result, and we would like to thank all of our students who participated in the survey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the\u00a0National Student Survey 2017\u00a0(NSS) have now been released, revealing good news for the\u00a0School of European Culture and Languages\u00a0(SECL).
