{"id":6905,"date":"2017-01-19T18:36:59","date_gmt":"2017-01-19T18:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6905"},"modified":"2017-01-19T18:36:59","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T18:36:59","slug":"kmtv-reports-on-refugee-language-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2017\/01\/19\/kmtv-reports-on-refugee-language-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"KMTV reports on refugee language initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentonline.co.uk\/kmtv\/\">KMTV<\/a>, the online video channel produced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentonline.co.uk\">Kent Media<\/a>\u00a0group and the University of Kent, reported about the initiative between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a> students and the <a href=\"https:\/\/kran.org.uk\">Kent Refugee Action Network<\/a> (KRAN) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/news\/?view=6723\">to teach English to refugees<\/a>, broadcast online yesterday 18 January 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme was initiated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/chamorro.html\">Dr Gloria Chamorro<\/a>, Lecturer in Applied Linguistics, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/staff\/profiles\/english-language\/jshort.html\">Jane Short<\/a>, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/index.html\">Centre for English and World Languages<\/a>, and KRAN.<\/p>\n<p>In the piece, KMTV reporter Louisa Britton interviews Gloria about the initiative. \u2018We have a lot of teaching resources, we have computers that these students can use.
