{"id":6765,"date":"2016-12-01T12:49:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T12:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6765"},"modified":"2016-12-14T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2016-12-14T11:40:08","slug":"evidence-based-medicine-project-releases-first-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/12\/01\/evidence-based-medicine-project-releases-first-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Evidence-based medicine project releases first video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ebmplus.org\">EBM+<\/a> [Evidence-Based Medicine Plus], part of a research project, co-organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/staff\/williamson.html\">Jon Williamson<\/a>, Professor of Reasoning, Inference and Scientific Method in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Department of Philosophy<\/a>, has just published its first video.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/sts\/staff\/clarke\">Dr Brendan Clarke<\/a> (UCL) cusses the limitations of clinical trials and why medicine needs different types of evidence &#8211; most importantly, that of mechanisms &#8211; in order to better inform medical decisions and clinical care.<\/p>\n<p>EBM+ is a consortium of researchers and health policy experts taking part in a three-year project, \u2018Evaluating Evidence in Medicine\u2019. The project is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/news\/index.html?view=3719\">funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council<\/a> until May 2018.
