{"id":6717,"date":"2016-11-23T12:50:02","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T12:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6717"},"modified":"2016-11-23T12:50:02","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T12:50:02","slug":"kent-archaeology-society-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/11\/23\/kent-archaeology-society-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent Archaeology Society conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/staff\/willis.html\">Dr Steve Willis<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Department of Classical &amp;\u00a0Archaeological Studies<\/a>, will be hosting the Third Annual Kent Archaeology Society Day Conference on the 26 November 2016 in Rutherford College, Lecture Theatres 1 and 2.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kentarchaeology.org.uk\/\">Kent Archaeological Society<\/a> was founded in 1857 and aims to promote the study and publication of archaeology and history in all their branches, especially within the ancient county of Kent.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year\u2019s conference is &#8216;Roman Villas in the Landscape&#8217;. The conference will include seven papers, with Steve on &#8216;Thoughts on the Emerging Themes&#8217;, Dr Elizabeth Blanning, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Kent, on &#8216;Becoming Roman: A Perspective from Rural Kent&#8217; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/postgraduate\/research-classical-archaeological-studies.html\">Classical and Archaeological Studies PhD<\/a> student Simon Elliott on &#8216;Ragstone to Riches&#8217;.
