{"id":6570,"date":"2016-10-06T09:58:56","date_gmt":"2016-10-06T08:58:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6570"},"modified":"2017-01-25T18:01:41","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T18:01:41","slug":"mikkel-zangenberg-at-oxford-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/10\/06\/mikkel-zangenberg-at-oxford-university\/","title":{"rendered":"Mikkel Zangenberg at Oxford University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Mikkel Zangenberg, Lecturer in Danish Language and Culture in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Department of Comparative Literature<\/a>, will be talking at a Nordic Network event titled \u2018Equality, Inequality and Aesthetics\u2019 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torch.ox.ac.uk\">Torch (The Oxford Centre for Research in the Humanities)<\/a>, the University of Oxford, on Friday 14 October.<\/p>\n<p>Mikkel\u2019s talk will be titled \u2018On the Politico-Aesthetic Education of a Nordic,\u00a0Proto-European Welfare Man; or, How to Mobilize Schiller Anew, Through Reading Holberg\u2019s <em>Erasmus Montanus<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Of the talk, Mikkel says: \u2018My rather ponderous, longish title attempts to articulate the drift of a\u00a0reading of the deeply ambiguous negotiation of\u00a0universalism versus\u00a0egalitarianism in Danish-Norwegian Ludvig Holberg\u2019s 1723 play, as well as the\u00a0possible, contemporary\u00a0political and aesthetic relevance for the (virtually\u00a0shipwrecked) European project, of what we might provisionally name a Nordic\u00a0Welfare Modernism\u00a0<em>avant la letter<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The event will be held at 2.30pm.
