{"id":6490,"date":"2016-09-09T09:00:06","date_gmt":"2016-09-09T08:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6490"},"modified":"2017-06-30T18:14:09","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T17:14:09","slug":"ray-laurence-to-lecture-in-massachusetts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/09\/09\/ray-laurence-to-lecture-in-massachusetts\/","title":{"rendered":"Ray Laurence to lecture in Massachusetts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Ray Laurence, Professor of Roman History and Archaeology in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Department of Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a>, will be giving a lecture at the <a href=\"https:\/\/aiawesternmass.org\/\">Western Massachusetts Society<\/a> \u2013 a branch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeological.org.\/\">Archaeological Institute of America<\/a>, hosted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umass.edu\/\">University of Massachusetts Amherst<\/a> on Monday 13 September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Ray\u2019s talk is entitled \u2018Migration and Mobility in the Roman Empire\u2019. Migration is in the news on both sides of the Atlantic, in the USA and in Europe. Yet, migration was a feature of the past and was the human dynamic that developed the cities of the Roman Empire.
