{"id":6466,"date":"2016-08-31T12:44:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T11:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6466"},"modified":"2016-08-31T12:44:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T11:44:16","slug":"summer-school-on-prosody-and-intonation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/08\/31\/summer-school-on-prosody-and-intonation\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer school on prosody and intonation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An international summer school organised by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/arvaniti.html\">Professor Amalia Arvaniti<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/rathcke.html\">Dr Tamara Rathcke<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">Department of English Language &amp;\u00a0Linguistics<\/a>,\u00a0in collaboration with French colleagues, will be held next week, 6-9 September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/aixprosody2016.weebly.com\/\">Aix Summer School on Prosody<\/a> (Aixpros)\u00a0is an international summer school on prosody and intonation, and will\u00a0take place in Aix-en-Provence, France.\u00a0It is\u00a0organised by the Laboratoire Parole et Language at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.univ-amu.fr\/\">Universit\u00e9 Aix-Marseille<\/a>\u00a0with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/\">University of Kent<\/a>. The event is supported by the French Ministry for Education, and funded primarily by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agence-nationale-recherche.fr\">Agence Nationale de la Recherche<\/a>\u00a0(National Research Agency), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isca-speech.org\/iscaweb\/\">International Speech Communication Association<\/a>\u00a0and the University of Kent, and it aims to promote interdisciplinary exchanges between postgraduate students and researchers from a variety of areas within linguistics (such as phonetics, phonology, psycholinguists, second language acquisition, fieldwork). Among the themes that will be addressed are pathological aspects, such as prosody\u00a0in schizophrenia and Parkinson&#8217;s, and the study of prosody of under-documented languages.
