{"id":6401,"date":"2016-08-08T14:08:20","date_gmt":"2016-08-08T13:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=6401"},"modified":"2016-08-08T14:08:20","modified_gmt":"2016-08-08T13:08:20","slug":"congratulations-to-ada-nifosi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/08\/08\/congratulations-to-ada-nifosi\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to Ada Nifosi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Department of Classical\u00a0&amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a> is delighted to announce that Ada Nifosi has been awarded a PhD, under the supervision of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/staff\/lada.html\">Dr\u00a0Csaba La&#8217;da<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/staff\/baker.html\">Dr\u00a0Patty Baker<\/a>, with a thesis entitled &#8216;Women&#8217;s Body, Society and Domestic Space in Graeco-Roman Egypt&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Her thesis investigated the social and legal status of women in Graeco-Roman Egypt through the lens of women\u2019s reproduction. It focused on some important and understudied aspects of women\u2019s life such as their coming of age, social and religious taboos of menstruation, and birth rituals.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0investigated medical, legal and religious aspects of women\u2019s reproduction both from historical sources like Greek and Demotic\u00a0papyri\u00a0and\u00a0also\u00a0from\u00a0archaeological\u00a0sources such as artefacts found in domestic contexts and archaeological reports.
