{"id":5974,"date":"2016-05-19T12:28:09","date_gmt":"2016-05-19T11:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=5974"},"modified":"2016-05-19T12:28:09","modified_gmt":"2016-05-19T11:28:09","slug":"axel-stahler-edited-collection-wins-ajl-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/05\/19\/axel-stahler-edited-collection-wins-ajl-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Axel St\u00e4hler-edited collection wins AJL award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A collection\u00a0co-edited by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/staff\/staehler.html\">Dr Axel St\u00e4hler<\/a>, Reader in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Department of Comparative Literature<\/a>, has just been awarded the <a href=\"http:\/\/jewishlibraries.org\">Association of Jewish Libraries<\/a>\u2019 (AJL) Judaica Reference Award.<\/p>\n<p>The AJL Judaica Reference Award was established to encourage the publication of outstanding Judaica reference books.<\/p>\n<p>The winner\u00a0this year is <em>The Edinburgh Companion to Modern Jewish Fiction<\/em> (Edinburgh University Press, 2015), co-edited by Axel alongside\u00a0David Brauner from the University of Reading. The collection\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/news\/index.html?view=4488\">was published last year<\/a>,\u00a0and includes essays covering a wide range of American, British, South African, Canadian and Australian Jewish fiction.<\/p>\n<p>The AJL awards committee felt that the work \u2018was a most compelling resource that fills a great gap in the field.
