{"id":5939,"date":"2016-05-04T15:30:05","date_gmt":"2016-05-04T14:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=5939"},"modified":"2016-05-04T15:30:05","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T14:30:05","slug":"lucy-omeara-publishes-on-japanophilia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2016\/05\/04\/lucy-omeara-publishes-on-japanophilia\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucy O\u2019Meara publishes on Japanophilia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/staff\/o-meara.html\">Dr Lucy O\u2019Meara<\/a>, Lecturer in French in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a>, has just co-edited a new collection <em>R\u00e9ceptions de la culture japonaise en France depuis 1945:\u00a0Paris-Tokyo-Paris: d\u00e9tours par le Japan <\/em>(Honor\u00e9 Champion, 2015) with Fabien Arribert-Narce (Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo) and Kohei Kuwada (University of Tokyo).<\/p>\n<p>Since the (re)opening of Japan to the West in the mid-19th century, many French writers and artists have been fascinated by Japanese art and culture. \u00a0This work, which collects the papers from the 2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/researchcentres\/eurolit\/index.html\">Centre for Modern European Literature<\/a> conference \u2018Paris-Tokyo-Paris: Responses to Japan in French Art, Culture and Theory since 1945\u2019, offers a broad perspective into the phenomenon of Japanophilia.
