{"id":4992,"date":"2015-10-21T11:58:22","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T10:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=4992"},"modified":"2019-04-09T14:03:40","modified_gmt":"2019-04-09T13:03:40","slug":"english-language-linguistics-graduate-secures-role-as-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2015\/10\/21\/english-language-linguistics-graduate-secures-role-as-editor\/","title":{"rendered":"English Language and Linguistics graduate secures role as editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eliott Farr, a graduate of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/undergraduate\/english-language-and-linguistics.html\">BA (Hons) in English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a>, has recently secured the role of Editor, Content &amp; Strategy at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fpcreative.com\/\">FP Creative.<\/a> An award-winning content agency, FP Creative produces creative content in the automotive and luxury goods sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Since graduating in 2012 Eliott, who is a lifelong petrolhead, has worked for Toyota GB, as part of their award-winning\u00a0social team.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"st\">Eliott&#8217;s<\/span> role at FP is hugely varied, but a typical day involves researching vehicles and attending product briefings, sampling the latest tech and forming creative ideas, which are then delivered to clients before being produced. There&#8217;s a lot of writing involved as FP produce magazines and press packs, which require very specific technical information. He also attends industry conferences, car meets\u00a0and motor shows to keep up-to-date with the latest industry developments.<\/p>\n<p>Eliott is keen to acknowledge the part his degree has played in his success saying \u2018My degree was very analytical. For instance, when focusing on grammar it wasn&#8217;t enough to say that something was wrong &#8211; you had to say why. This is directly relevant to my role where I have to identify the insight that will help a piece of creative strike a chord with audiences, teach them something they didn&#8217;t know, and add real commercial value to the clients that I work with.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Modules such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/modulecatalogue\/modules\/LL530\">Writing in the Media<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/modulecatalogue\/modules\/LL520\">Theories of Discourse and Culture<\/a> have been especially useful as much of the\u00a0writing\u00a0and communicative work he does is for a global audience.
