The topic of M\u00fcn\u00fckl\u00fc\u2019s doctoral thesis is the portrayal of marginality and the marginalised individual in late 20th- and 21st-century literature. He will be working on the <em>Nachlass<\/em> of the writer and academic Winifred Georg Sebald (1944-2001), which includes the author\u2019s manuscripts, notes and private library.<\/p>\n<p>Ersin M\u00fcn\u00fckl\u00fc described his fascination with Sebald: \u2018he writes from and about the margins of history and remembrance in order to draw attention to the relation of past and present identity.
