This is the culmination of three or four years of hard work, or longer for part-time students.<\/p>\n<p>Several students in the School also\u00a0won additional awards. The Faculty has awarded\u00a0Humanities Rotary Prizes (for excellence in their subject) to: Daniel Mahoney (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Philosophy<\/a>) and Jonathan Egid (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Philosophy<\/a>). The Edward Lamb Prize for the best overall degree result in the Faculty to: Shona Wood (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">English Language &amp;\u00a0Linguistics<\/a>). The SECL Employability Prize was\u00a0awarded to Keziah Cawkwell (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp;\u00a0Archaeological Studies<\/a>) for her many extra curriculae activities including President of the \u2018University of Kent Against Human Trafficking Society&#8217;, an internship at Dover Museum, volunteer employment at Dover Museum, mentor for secondary school pupils, a placement at Simon Langton Girls School, International Buddy to a student from overseas and extensive charity work with the Salvation Army.<\/p>\n<p>Other departmental prizes included:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Katharine Mawford wins the Dissertation Prize and The KH Lee Ancient Language Prize for best mark in advanced Latin<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Lees, the Tom Blagg Prize for best degree<\/li>\n<li>Gabrielle Pilcher for Most Significant Contribution to Classical and Archaeological Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Comparative Literature <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Joshua Gottlieb for Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Joint winners Nicola Baldwin, Tom Colombo and Sofia Cumming, the Roger and Agnes Cardinal Prize, for the best final-year dissertation<\/li>\n<li>Gabriella Grandi and James Tookey, runner-up in the Roger and Agnes Cardinal Prize, for the Best Final-Year Dissertation<\/li>\n<li>Jemima Crayden for the Most Significant Contribution to Comparative Literature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">English Language &amp;\u00a0Linguistics <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shona Wood for Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Hiroyuki Tanaka, the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Louise McKenner for Most Significant Contribution to English Language &amp;\u00a0Linguistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/french\/index.html\">French <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eliot Batchelor for Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Kirsty Miles, the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Robert Wilcock, Most Significant Contribution to French<\/li>\n<li>Chloe Baker for Best Performance by an <em>Ab Initio<\/em> Student<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/german\/index.html\">German<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Matthew Partridge for Best Degree and the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Bethany Abraham for the Most Significant Contribution to German<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/hispanicstudies\/index.html\">Hispanic Studies <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Luke Edmunds wins Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Ellen Laing, the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Robert Wilcock and Marcus Loudon for Most Significant Contribution to Hispanic Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/italian\/index.html\">Italian <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eliot Batchelor wins Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Alison Gray. the\u00a0Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Eliot Batchelor for most significant contribution to Italian<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Philosophy <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Joshua Gottlieb wins Best Degree and the Laurence Goldstein Essay Prize<\/li>\n<li>Jonathan Egid, the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Omega House for Most Significant Contribution to Philosophy<\/li>\n<li>Jonathan Egid and Daniel Mahoney, the Keith Jones Prize for outstanding performance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/thrs\/index.html\">Religious Studies <\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Samantha Murphy wins Best Degree<\/li>\n<li>Paul Healey, the Dissertation Prize<\/li>\n<li>Eppie Parker for Most Significant Contribution to Religious Studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Prizes were\u00a0 awarded at the Graduation Party on campus, held on campus before the degree ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to our final-year students\u00a0from the School of European Culture and Languages\u00a0(SECL) who graduated today with their well-earned degrees.
