{"id":4452,"date":"2015-07-09T11:14:01","date_gmt":"2015-07-09T10:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=4452"},"modified":"2015-07-09T11:14:01","modified_gmt":"2015-07-09T10:14:01","slug":"kent-hosts-pala-2015-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2015\/07\/09\/kent-hosts-pala-2015-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent hosts PALA 2015 conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Kent is delighted to be hosting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pala.ac.uk\">Poetics and Linguistics Association<\/a> (PALA) 2015 International Conference on \u2018Creative Style\u2019, from 15-18 July 2015 in Woolf College.<\/p>\n<p>PALA is the leading international academic association for those who work in stylistics, poetics, and associated fields of language and linguistics and the annual conference is the main event of the year for members.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s conference has been organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/scott.html\">Dr Jeremy Scott<\/a>, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">Department of English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a>, and has over 180 delegates including high profile speakers such as Katie Wales (University of Nottingham) on \u2018Thing Theory Meets Prosopodoeia\u2019 and Michael Toolan (University of Birmingham) on \u2018Harris and Leech on Creativity and the Teaching of Poetry\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The conference also includes a series of special interest groups on Crime Writing, Pragmatic Literary Stylistics, Creative Writing, and Reader Response Research in Stylistics.
