{"id":3831,"date":"2015-02-26T10:24:30","date_gmt":"2015-02-26T10:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=3831"},"modified":"2015-11-04T18:08:16","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T18:08:16","slug":"funding-secured-for-interantional-prosody-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2015\/02\/26\/funding-secured-for-interantional-prosody-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding secured for international prosody conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/arvaniti.html\">Professor Amalia Arvaniti <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/staff\/rathcke.html\">Dr Tamara Rathcke<\/a>\u00a0from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">Department of English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a>\u00a0have secured funding from the\u00a0Kent Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (KIASH) to organise the 7th international conference on &#8216;Tone and Intonation in Europe&#8217; (TIE 7) at Kent&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/paris\/\">Paris centre<\/a> in September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>TIE is a series of biennial international conferences that started in 2004, the culmination of a\u00a0European Science Foundation-funded\u00a0research network, where Amalia Arvaniti served as one of the main coordinators. TIE7 will focus on two themes: (i) the interaction of tone and intonation with other components of prosody, such as rhythm, and (ii) the relevance of prosody for the learning and teaching of a second language.
