{"id":3826,"date":"2015-02-20T14:50:20","date_gmt":"2015-02-20T14:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=3826"},"modified":"2016-09-30T15:01:55","modified_gmt":"2016-09-30T14:01:55","slug":"phd-student-receives-studienstiftung-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2015\/02\/20\/phd-student-receives-studienstiftung-award\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD student receives Studienstiftung award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nikolaus Klassen, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/postgraduate\/research-classical-archaeological-studies.html\">PhD student<\/a> in the department of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a>, has recently been awarded a prestigious PhD stipend from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.studienstiftung.org\">Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes<\/a> [German National Academic Foundation], Germany&#8217;s largest organisation sponsoring students of outstanding academic achievements.<\/p>\n<p>Nikolaus is working on early Christian poetry under the supervision of Professor Karla Pollmann, with a research project entitled \u2018Prudentius: A Lyrical Poet in the Age of Asceticism\u2019. Nikolaus is one of the research students attached to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/researchcentres\/early-christianity\/index.html\">Centre for Early Christianity and its Reception<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On receiving the award, Nikolaus said, \u2018I am delighted to receive this award because it allows me to focus entirely on writing my thesis.
