{"id":3752,"date":"2015-02-05T09:46:41","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T09:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=3752"},"modified":"2017-12-20T13:48:42","modified_gmt":"2017-12-20T13:48:42","slug":"jessica-frazier-on-in-our-time-radio-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2015\/02\/05\/jessica-frazier-on-in-our-time-radio-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Jessica Frazier on In Our Time, Radio 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Jessica Frazier, from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/thrs\/index.html\">Department of Religious Studies<\/a>, participated in the BBC Radio 4 programme<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b006qykl\"><em> In Our Time<\/em><\/a> today, hosted by presenter Melvyn Bragg.<\/p>\n<p>The programme\u00a0focused on Ashoka the Great, Emperor of India.\u00a0Ashoka conquered almost all of the landmass covered by modern-day India, creating the largest empire South Asia had<span class=\"ml__ellipsis\"><span class=\"ml__hidden\">\u00a0ever known. After his campaign of conquest he converted to Buddhism, and spread the religion throughout his domain.
