{"id":3251,"date":"2014-10-17T15:01:33","date_gmt":"2014-10-17T15:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=3251"},"modified":"2014-10-17T16:10:21","modified_gmt":"2014-10-17T16:10:21","slug":"antonio-lazaro-reboll-talks-on-spanish-comics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2014\/10\/17\/antonio-lazaro-reboll-talks-on-spanish-comics\/","title":{"rendered":"Antonio Lazaro-Reboll to talk on Spanish comics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/hispanicstudies\/staff\/reboll.html\">Dr Antonio Lazaro-Reboll<\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/hispanicstudies\/index.html\">Department of Hispanic Studies<\/a> will talk at the \u2018Transitions\u2019, the fifth annual symposium promoting research and the academic study of all forms of comics, held at Birkbeck College, University of London on Saturday 25 October.<\/p>\n<p>Antonio\u2019s talk maps the formation of comics culture and comic art scholarship in\u00a0Spain from 1965 to 1975, focusing on a local scene created by authors,\u00a0media critics and fan writers who forged international networks with contemporary\u00a0comics book cultures in Europe and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on pioneering\u00a0studies, specialist publications and fanzines, the talk will examine how the adoption of American and European theoretical explorations of mass media phenomena was\u00a0applied to the study of comics, comics-related phenomena and other popular\u00a0cultural forms.
