{"id":3169,"date":"2014-10-02T12:20:30","date_gmt":"2014-10-02T12:20:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=3169"},"modified":"2017-08-29T16:12:04","modified_gmt":"2017-08-29T15:12:04","slug":"conference-to-debate-the-digital-age","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2014\/10\/02\/conference-to-debate-the-digital-age\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference to debate the digital age"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This month, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/researchcentres\/reasoning\/\">Centre for Reasoning<\/a> within the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Department of Philosophy<\/a>, in collaboration with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kdw.lu.se\">Knowledge in the Digital World<\/a> group at Lund University, will bring together researchers working on the epistemology and\u00a0political philosophy of knowledge acquisition and dissemination.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will be held across two days, 16-17 October, in the Abode Hotel in the centre of Canterbury. It will feature talks from external speakers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wadham.ox.ac.uk\/people\/fellows-and-academic-staff\/s\/tom-simpson\">Thomas W. Simpson<\/a> (University of Oxford) on \u2018Knowledge Transmission Online\u2019, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fil.lu.se\/en\/person\/ErikJOlsson\">Erik J. Olsson<\/a> (University of Lund) on \u2018Google and the Wisdom of Crowds\u2019, and <a href=\"http:\/\/people.uwe.ac.uk\/Pages\/person.aspx?accountname=campus%5Cpd2-matthews\">Paul Matthews<\/a> (University of Bristol) on \u2018 Consequential Social Epistemology and the Design of Online Knowledge Exchange\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers from the Department of Philosophy include Kristoffer Ahlstrom-Vij, Laura Biron, Juergen Landes, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/staff\/williamson.html\">Jon Williamson<\/a> and PhD student Ruth Hibbert.
