{"id":2784,"date":"2014-07-02T09:45:22","date_gmt":"2014-07-02T09:45:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=2784"},"modified":"2018-08-30T16:52:57","modified_gmt":"2018-08-30T15:52:57","slug":"research-award-for-progic-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2014\/07\/02\/research-award-for-progic-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Research award for &#8216;progic&#8217; events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/staff\/williamson.html\">Professor Jon Williamson<\/a> and Dr Juergen Landes have won funding from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mindassociation.org\">Mind Association<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.analysistrust.org\">Analysis Trust,<\/a> the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blc-logic.org\/\">British Logic Colloquium<\/a> and the British Society for the Philosophy of Science to run a spring school and conference on \u2018Combining Probability and Logic \u2013 Progic 2015\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The events, hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/researchcentres\/reasoning\/index.html\">Centre for Reasoning<\/a>, will be the seventh instalment in the progic series. The conference will be particularly interested in connections between <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Formal_epistemology\">formal epistemology<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/plato.stanford.edu\/entries\/logic-inductive\/\">inductive logic<\/a>, asking such questions as: can inductive logic shed light on epistemological questions to do with belief, judgement etc?
