{"id":2611,"date":"2014-05-07T10:47:01","date_gmt":"2014-05-07T10:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=2611"},"modified":"2014-05-07T10:47:01","modified_gmt":"2014-05-07T10:47:01","slug":"catalan-lector-wins-literary-criticism-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2014\/05\/07\/catalan-lector-wins-literary-criticism-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Catalan lector wins literary criticism prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Jaume Silvestre, Language Lector in Catalan in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/hispanicstudies\/index.html\">Department of Hispanic Studies<\/a>, has just been awarded the XII Premi d\u2019estudis ling\u00fc\u00edstics i literaris, by the Valencia Higher Education consortia.<\/p>\n<p>The prize has been given for his book <i>L\u2019obra narrativa de Ferran Torrent <\/i>(Universitat d\u2019Alacant University Press, 2013), which is the published version of Jaume\u2019s PhD thesis under the supervision of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/hispanicstudies\/staff\/reboll.html\">Dr Antonio L\u00e1zaro-Reboll<\/a>\u00a0at Kent. The book concerns the writing of the Ferran Torrent, one of the most popular thriller writers, whose work is published in both Catalan and Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>The Premi d\u2019estudis ling\u00fc\u00edstics i literaris is given by the Institut de Filologia Valenciana, which comprises of the Catalan Studies departments within the universities of Valencia, Alacant and Castell\u00f3. The prize is awarded biannually in several categories: fiction, children\u2019s literature, performing arts, cultural promotion, and literary criticism.
