{"id":1991,"date":"2013-12-17T13:26:01","date_gmt":"2013-12-17T13:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=1991"},"modified":"2019-04-10T11:26:24","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T10:26:24","slug":"philosophy-and-classics-alumna-on-university-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2013\/12\/17\/philosophy-and-classics-alumna-on-university-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Philosophy and Classics alumna on University Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A well-known alumna from the departments of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/philosophy\/index.html\">Philosophy<\/a> will be competing BBC2\u2019s Christmas <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b006t6l0\"><i>University Challenge<\/i><\/a> to be broadcast on Saturday 21 December at 7.05pm.<\/p>\n<p>Broadcaster and writer <a href=\"http:\/\/figlover.co.uk\/\">Fi Glover<\/a> graduated in 1990 in Classical Civilisation and Philosophy, and will compete on a team with James Wong, television science presenter; Rebecca Lenkiewicz, playwright and film, television and radio screenwriter; and Robert Wade, screenwriter and co-writer of five James Bond films.<\/p>\n<p>Alison Coles,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/alumni\/index.html\">Director of Development and Alumni Relations<\/a>, said: &#8216;We are delighted that some of our most successful alumni are reuniting to represent Kent in this year&#8217;s University Challenge Christmas special. We&#8217;re incredibly proud of what they have all achieved since graduating and we wish them the best of luck for the competition.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Kent team will compete in one of seven first-round matches. The four teams from the first-round with the highest winning scores will play in two semi-finals, with the winners meeting in the final.
