{"id":14037,"date":"2021-03-25T13:48:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-25T13:48:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=14037"},"modified":"2021-07-31T13:23:38","modified_gmt":"2021-07-31T12:23:38","slug":"dr-alex-marlowe-mann-leads-the-international-jury-for-the-paladium-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2021\/03\/25\/dr-alex-marlowe-mann-leads-the-international-jury-for-the-paladium-film-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Alex Marlow-Mann leads the International Jury for the Paladium Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Dr Alex Marlow-Mann, Lecturer in Italian, was President of the International Jury for CineMaOltre: Paladium Film Festival, which took place from the 9th-14th March 2021.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/files\/2021\/03\/Celestine.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-14039 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/files\/2021\/03\/Celestine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>The competition, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/filmfestivalpallad.wixsite.com\/cinemaoltre\">Carta Bianca Dams<\/a>\u2019 saw fifteen short films produced by young and emerging filmmakers under 35-years-old from a variety of countries competing for a prize.<\/p>\n<p>The winner was the French film <em>Celestine<\/em> by Marie-St\u00e9phane Catteno. A remarkably assured and technically proficient film, which could easily be expanded into a fully-fledged feature, it provided a sympathetic, poignant but never maudlin look at ageing and loneliness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/european-culture-languages\/people\/1786\/marlow-mann-alex\">Dr Alex Marlow-Mann<\/a> says:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/files\/2021\/03\/alex-marlow-mann.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-13974 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/files\/2021\/03\/alex-marlow-mann.jpg\" alt=\"Dr Alex Marlowe-Mann \" width=\"259\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>&#8216;This is the second time I have participated in this wonderful and varied festival and it was a pleasure and honour to be invited to chair the jury.
