{"id":12657,"date":"2020-05-18T09:09:14","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T08:09:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=12657"},"modified":"2020-05-20T14:47:41","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T13:47:41","slug":"patty-baker-public-engagement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2020\/05\/18\/patty-baker-public-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"Patty Baker awarded grant for work on Ancient Roman gardens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Patty Baker, Lecturer in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/european-culture-languages\/classics-archaeology\">Department of Classical and Archaeological Studies<\/a>, has been awarded a Public Engagement Grant from the Institute of Classical Studies, her second this year, to work with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trustforthanetarchaeology.org.uk\/news-and-updates\/\">Trust for Thanet Archaeology<\/a> to recreate an Ancient Roman garden.<\/p>\n<p>The project involves University of Kent students and members of the Trust. Once the garden is created it will be used as a resource to teach the general public about ancient gardening techniques, plants, and sustainable gardening practices.
