The course was interesting and covered a wide variety of topics which appealed to me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which aspects of your degree did you enjoy the most, and why?<\/strong><br \/>\nI particularly enjoyed my Nordic Literature module because of the scope of the texts studied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What impressed you most about our academic staff?<\/strong><br \/>\nTheir friendly and approachable manner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which skills\/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now in your career?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe ability to demonstrate your own passion for the subject when you\u2019re teaching it to others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you still in touch with any of your fellow students?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes. Many of them. I met my best friend at UKC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Could you describe a typical day in your current role?<\/strong><br \/>\nMy day involves teaching students varying from ages 10 to 19. In my secondary teaching I lead the children through studying classic texts and modern ones, currently we are studying <em>A Streetcar Named Desire<\/em>. My primary role involves teaching the younger children the foundations of the English language.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your future plans\/aspirations?<\/strong><br \/>\nI would like to open up my own International school someday or (failing that) a small bookshop in Canterbury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favourite memory of Kent?<\/strong><br \/>\nTrying a module of Ancient Greek and failing miserably. I love the irony that I now teach in a Greek speaking country!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to somebody thinking of coming to Kent?<\/strong><br \/>\nTo pick a course which truly interests you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How would you describe your time at Kent in three words?<\/strong><br \/>\nEngaging, inspirational and happy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Name: Rosie Firmin Course: BA (Hons) in Comparative Literature and English and American Literature, 2015 What are you doing now?
