Rebecca, who has just completed her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/11\/linguistics\">MA Linguistics course<\/a>, was recognised at the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/staff-student-news\/2019\/04\/02\/sportswoman-of-the-year-award-for-linguistics-student-rebecca-barton-hagger\/\">Team Kent Awards<\/a> in April as the <strong>best sportswoman at the University for her achievements in karate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u2018Winning the Team Kent Sportswoman of the Year is a huge honour \u2013 I still can\u2019t believe it. <strong>Karate provides a good stress relief, and helps give a clear head for my studies.<\/strong> It is good to have a balance \u2013 the difference is massive but in a good way.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/combatsports2019.eusa.eu\/\">Combat Championships<\/a> form part of a series of summer events organised across the continent by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eusa.eu\/\">European University Sports Association<\/a>. The event will see 1300 participants from 400 universities and 35 European countries in Zagreb, the Capital of Croatia, from Wednesday 31 July to Sunday 4 August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kent Sportswoman of the Year Rebecca Barton-Hagger is taking part in the European Universities Combat Championships in Croatia.
