Join Dr Laura Bailey, SECL Student Success Lecturer, at the Gulbankian Cinema on Tuesday 29th January for a panel discussion following the screening of the new Boots Riley film Sorry to Bother You. This comedy features Cassius Green, a black call centre worker, who finds that ‘sounding white’ increases his sales.

This brilliant absurdist film savages capitalism, low-paid labour and racism in a cutting, visually surprising trip that will leave you baffled, buoyed and bruised in equal parts. The FilmTalk afterwards features BME officers from Kent Union discussing ‘sounding black’, racism, and linguistic profiling in real life, and is chaired by Dr Laura Bailey. This event is part of the Student Success Project and promises to be an inspiring and entertaining evening. It’s also two-for-one tickets for students and under-25s!

For more on the event, please click the image below, or visit The Gulbenkian for more information. This event is a 2ForTuesday screening, so students get two tickets for the price of one.
