Vice-Chancellor’s Graduate Teaching Assistant, James W Hoctor, who is studying for his PhD in Philosophy has given an interview for the podcast The Anthill, a series that unearths stories from the world of academic research. The Anthill is produced by the website The Conversation UK.
‘What drew me to this, I suppose, was first of all my own experience as a twin,’ explains James in the podcast, ‘meaning that perhaps when I came across representations of twins in popular culture and theoretical literature, I thought maybe it didn’t represent my experience.’
James’ doctoral project is titled ‘Towards an Intersubjectivity of Monozygotic Twins and its Implications’, and is co-supervised by Dr Todd Mei and Dr David Corfield in the Department of Philosophy. His research deals with the intersection between philosophy of mind and phenomenology by exploring intersubjectivity in identical twins.
