Three students, among whom Darcey Elmer and Oliver Mann, have been awarded the prestigious Diplôme de français professionnel Affaires at B2 language level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
All three students did very well, with Oliver Mann awarded a ‘mention’ (French equivalent to a distinction). Many congratulations!
The University of Kent has been an accredited examination centre for the Paris and Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry for over 20 years.
Each year in June, students have the opportunity to sit Diplôme de français professionnel (DFP) Affaires at the Canterbury campus, at either level B1 or B2. This entire process is coordinated and managed by Fiona Symes, Lecturer in French.
Students can prepare by either taking French modules FREN5900 or FREN5920 (Professional French/Business French), or by studying independently.
The aim of these diplomas is to show a future employer that you can use French in a professional context. The diplomas are internationally recognized and are an excellent addition to a CV! We have had reports from alumni that prospective employers are very impressed to see the DFP Affaires mentioned in applications.
Our students of French, including those who sat the DFP Affaires in the past, have gone on to a range of careers including marketing, translation, account management, working for private companies, within bilingual organisations or even within the international departments of universities!
