This Inaugural will be an occasion to reflect on the different research projects and related impact work conducted in the past ten years. Sophia Labadi is a Professor of Heritage. She also regularly uses her research to guide international organisations on projects and policy-making on culture.
Professor Labadi has published widely on diverse issues, including on World Heritage; migration and social justice in museums; and on heritage and sustainable development. Her research has received many awards and she has been an invited scholar in institutions in Africa, the USA and Europe, including at Stanford University and the Getty Conservation Institute. Professor Labadi will discuss her research on (World) Heritage and sustainability, and how the different impact projects conducted have changed this research and the topics considered. Her research on heritage and the 2015 UN Sustainable Development Goals will then be discussed. In the final part of this talk, she will present her latest research on decolonial heritage, and how connected it is from previous research.
