Welcome to the Department of Comparative Literature!

Dr Patricia Novillo-Corvalán

Patricia is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Comparative Literature. Patricia teaches at undergraduate level on world literature, Latin American fiction, the tale, and global Shakespeares.

 

Angelos Evangelou

Angelos is a Lecturer in Comparative Literature. He teaches literary and critical theory, political and historical fiction, book to film adaptations and classical literature, as well literature and madness.

 

Katja Haustein

Katja is a Lecturer in Comparative Literature and teaches on a range of topics including gender conceptions in women’s writing, autobiography and visual culture, European Romanticism, Modernism, and literature and affect.
 

Dr Jo Pettitt

Jo is a Lecturer in Comparative Literature and teaches on a range of modules including The Tale, our core first year module.

 

Dr Anna Katharina Schaffner

Anna is Reader in Comparative Literature and Medical Humanities,

Professor Axel Stähler 

Axel is Professor of Comparative Literature and teaches modules for undergraduates and postgraduates on a range of topics including representations of the Holocaust, literary awards and their politics, guilt and redemption in modern fiction, and crime fiction.

Professor Shane Weller

Shane is Professor of Comparative Literature and teaches the history and theory of comparative literature, as well as acting as Co-Director of the Division of Arts and Humanities.
