In unpredictable and turbulent times, philosophy can help us – all of us – to make sense of everyday life, and the world in which we find ourselves.

Dr Graeme A Forbes has recently appeared on the Living Philosophy podcast to discuss a key area of his research: time – a topic which in recent years has been increasingly on people’s mind.

In a wide-ranging discussion, Dr Forbes introduces the listener to his research and thoughts on the philosophy of time, as well as temporality: the human experience of time passing. How do we reconcile our human experience of time with our scientific understanding of time and space? This is just one of the questions explored in Dr Forbes’ interview.

The podcast also touches on the intersections of time, drama and narrative, and in particular how we use narratives in fiction and non-fiction.

“I really like the aim of Living Philosophy to connect a wider audience with philosophical topics,” said Dr Forbes on his appearance. “So naturally, I was really pleased to be asked to talk about time with Todd.”

You can listen to the podcast for free on the Living Philosophy website, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as other podcast apps.

Dr Graeme A Forbes is Head of Philosophy at the University of Kent. His research interests focus on the philosophy of time, and how time affects practical lives. Dr Forbes currently teaches mainly in contemporary analytic philosophy, especially in issues in metaphysics.
