We are delighted to announce that one of our final year students from the Department of English Language & Linguistics, has won a University Music Prize.
Joseph Prescott, a third-year student on the BA in English Language & Linguistics, is a joint recipient of the University Music Awards Committee Prize, awarded to those who have made a special contribution to music at Kent. The prize is awarded to Joe for his special contribution to so many areas of our music making –Â solo trumpet in Concert Band and Big Band (and playing the Last Post for the annual Remembrance Day gathering). He has been the student conductor of Minerva Voices, the upper-voices chamber choir, this year and has also been musical director for musical theatre shows and showcases. He sings tenor in chorus and Cecilian choir, and is the outgoing President of the Music Society this year.
The prize will be awarded at a special event, along with other music prizes, on Tuesday 7 June as part of a music scholars’ recital taking place at 1.10pm in the Colyer-Fergusson Hall. For details, please see the page here: www.kent.ac.uk/music/whatson.html?tab=june
