Dr Michael Hughes, Associate Lecturer in the Department of English Language & Linguistics, has been invited to be a judge in the British Council award scheme for MA dissertations in English Language Teaching.
These awards are for students who have achieved a Distinction in their dissertation and it is an opportunity for institutions to promote their MA programmes through the British Council and for recent MA graduates to establish themselves in the field. Participating institutions are allowed to submit only one dissertation for consideration for an award each year and it is judged anonymously by a small panel drawn from the British Council and universities. English Language & Linguistics submitted a dissertation from a graduate from its MA in Applied Linguistics for TESOL programme, which began last academic year.
Dr Hughes was invited as one of two judges selected from among 24 participating institutions.
