The 14th annual conference of the Society of Dix-neuviémistes takes place at the University of Kent’s Paris centre from 14-16 April 2016.

The  Society of Dix-neuviémistes is a UK based international society concerned with the culture and history of nineteenth-century France and aims to provide a forum for the promotion and dissemination of research in nineteenth-century French and Francophone studies in the UK and Ireland, as well as encouraging interdisciplinary and comparative approaches to the ‘long’ nineteenth century (1789-1914) in France and Francophone countries, embracing linguistic, literary, historical, cultural and philosophical perspectives, and to foster nineteenth-century French studies in the postgraduate community.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘The Body’, with 120 papers being delivered over three days at Reid Hall in Montparnasse. The conference has been generously supported by the Humanities Research Support Fund at Kent.Montparnasse
