Comparative Literature student wins Williams Prize

Gillian Andrews, a third-year BA (Hons) Comparative Literature with a Year Abroad student, has won a Williams Writing and Performance Award while on her year abroad at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, the United States.

The Williams Prize was established in 1908 by Edward H Williams, Professor of Geology and Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University, and recognises outstanding work in writing and performance with prizes ranging from $200 to $1,000.

Gillian submitted her paper entitled ‘If Looks Could Kill: Exploring Practices of Looking in Showtime’s Dexter‘ in the category of ‘Critical Writing by a Junior’ and was awarded first place and a prize of $1,000. The prize will be awarded at an awards ceremony on 4 May, in which Gillian will read from her paper.
