The Department of Religious Studies will be holding its annual Christmas debate on Tuesday 16 December.
The theme for this year is: ‘The Best Christmas Film’. So what is the best Christmas film? Is it White Christmas (1954), the classic Scrooge (1970) or perhaps the remake of Miracle on 34th Street (1994)? Do your favourite Christmas films evoke childhood nostalgia, or do they explore the themes of spirituality? Students and staff are invited to vote for their favourite Christmas film ahead of the debate by either emailing their choice to secl@kent.ac.uk (with ‘The Best Christmas Film’ as the subject) or by dropping their title into the ‘Best Christmas Film’ box in the SECL office (Cornwallis North West 113), by Monday 15 December. If you want to argue in defence of your choice on the day, let us know by putting your name on the paper.
The debate will be addressed by Dr Chris Deacy in response to votes by students and staff.
The debate will be part of the Religious Studies Christmas party, held on Tuesday 16 December from 1-3pm in Keynes seminar room 12 with festive wine and mince pies.
