Greer Harris, a mature student studying Comparative Literature and English and American Literature, has just published a biography on the Kent aviator and socialite Diana Patten.

The book, entitled Redhead in the Clouds: How I Started Headcorn Aerodrome (Berforts Group, 2014), looks at the extraordinary life of Patten, who re-established Headcorn Aerodrome in the sixties. The aerodrome was an important airfield for America, Canada and British airmen in World War II.

Greer is studying part-time at the University of Kent’s Tonbridge Centre and is in the final year of her degree course.

This is the second time a Comparative Literature student has published a debut book in as many years, following on from Lesley Gray’s publication of The King’s Jockey (Solis Press, 2013) last year.

Redhead in the Clouds is published by Berforts and is available from Headcorn Aerodrome or by telephoning 01424 812479.
