Dr Simon Kirchin, Reader in Philosophy, has been appointed as the next Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Simon, who is currently the Acting Dean and Director of Learning and Teaching, will formally start his new role in April, and will continue as Dean until 2019.
As Acting Dean, Simon replaced Karl Leydecker, who also previously taught in the Department of German within the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL), and is current Vice-Principal at the University of Dundee.
‘Whilst I will be very sad not to be working in Philosophy and SECL as much as I have done in the past,’ says Simon, ‘I’m looking forward enormously to leading the Faculty as it goes from strength to strength’.
Simon will continue to supervise PhD students and will be running a reading group for postgraduates and staff next year.
