After looking around I decided to apply through clearing for Kent but was nervous to apply. I hadn’t quite received the grades I wanted at A level, so I was a bit worried about whether I would be accepted onto my course.

However after having a quick chat on the phone, the staff at UKC were so helpful and reassuring and made the whole process so easy and stress free. As I’d already left sixth form, I didn’t have much support from my school going through the process so it was a huge help that UKC were so willing to assist me. After being offered a place at University of Kent, a few of my lecturers contacted me to ask if there were any questions I had about my course which really helped me make my decision as they were so welcoming.

‘I was super nervous about coming to Uni, being two years older then everyone on my course, but I found it really wasn’t an issue at all.’

I was also worried about what would happen with accommodation because I wasn’t sure what would be left after coming through clearing. I got offered on-campus accommodation, which was a huge relief, even though it wasn’t my my first choice initially, but I was then able to swap in the first week of term to my preferred option!

I’ve really enjoyed the field trips we’ve been able to go on! Some of the modules I’ve done have just been so interesting specifically the comparative perspectives in primate biology and getting to look at all of the primate skulls in the labs have been my stand out moments so far.

Choosing to reapply to university was a really tough choice as I was picking a course that I had never studied before and had limited knowledge of. My previous uni course was in the sciences, so choosing a humanity based subject was really nerve-wracking for me. However I absolutely love my course -the lecturers are so engaging and I couldn’t imagine doing anything different now! I’m so excited to head into my final year at Kent and can’t believe how different everything would be if I hadn’t decided to take the plunge and apply through clearing two years ago!

I would say if anyone is worried about applying through clearing to come to Kent, that you really don’t need to worry! Everyone at Kent made it such an easy process to go through, and I am so glad I made the decision to study at Kent!’

Charlotte Long is studying for a BSc (Hons) in Anthropology.

Apply in Clearing here.

‘I decided to apply through clearing to study Anthropology at Kent.
