It is open to all, and will be followed by a buffet reception in Keynes Atrium.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker this year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eth.mpg.de\/cms\/en\/people\/d\/hann\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Chris Hann<\/a> of\u00a0the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, is particularly special. He is a former Professor of Social Anthropology here at the University of Kent, and knew Paul Stirling (after whom the lecture is named) quite well.<\/p>\n<p>The title of Chris&#8217; lecture is &#8216;The Turkish Nation-State and the Chimera of Modernity&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The Stirling Lecture is held annually in honour of Professor Paul Stirling, founding Professor of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Kent.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture is open to all.
