{"id":7937,"date":"2022-06-20T15:55:16","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T15:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=7937"},"modified":"2022-07-14T19:34:02","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T19:34:02","slug":"sex-bugs-and-rock-n-roll-at-glastonbury-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2022\/06\/20\/sex-bugs-and-rock-n-roll-at-glastonbury-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Sex &amp; Bugs and Rock &#8216;n Roll at Glastonbury Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">SAC goes on tour to spread the word about conservation and ecology. <\/p>\n<p>The University of Kent are working with teams of researchers at the centre of some exciting public engagement around science and research happening at <a href=\"https:\/\/glastonburyfestivals.co.uk\/\">Glastonbury Music Festival<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0&#8216;This is the place where the most inspiring green ideas are on show.&#8217;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/3859\/king-peter\">Dr Peter King<\/a>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/980\/austen-gail\">Dr Gail\u00a0 Austen<\/a>\u00a0can be found at the established\u00a0\u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/festivalbugs.org\/\">Sex &amp; Bugs &amp; Rock \u2018n Roll\u2019<\/a>\u00a0stall, where enthusiastic researchers share their fascination for the natural world and make science accessible to everyone.\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7962 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/files\/2022\/06\/Glasto-2022.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"421\" height=\"316\" \/>Austen will also be helping to run the new \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/glastosciencefutures.org\/\">Science Futures<\/a>\u2019 area -a brand new stage bringing environmental science to life on their &#8216;laboratory stage&#8217;. Festival-goers can learn about climate change, space travel and plant power. Their aim is to offer &#8216;a counter-balance to the misuse of science on social media, political spin and fake news.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Funded via the new<a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/signature-research-themes\/positive-environmental-futures\/\"> Positive Environmental Futures SRT<\/a>, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/people\/400\/jones-karen\">Professor Karen Jones<\/a>, from the School of History, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/chemistry-forensic-science\/people\/459\/barker-robert\">Dr Rob Barker<\/a> Lecturer in Chemistry and Forensic Science &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/475\/davies-zoe\">Professor Zoe Davies<\/a>.
