Sophus zu Ermgassen appears on the first ever environmental ‘Power List’ <\/p>\n
The ENDS Report<\/a> has published their first ever Power List of the most influential environmental professionals in the UK, and we are delighted to see that ecological economist and Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE), <\/a>Sophus zu Ermgassen<\/a>, appears on the list.<\/p>\n The ENDS Report is one of the UK\u2019s most reputable sources of intelligence for environmental professionals, delivering news, analysis and reference across the carbon, environmental and sustainability agenda. Sophus, whose interdisciplinary research focuses on nature conservation and sustainability science, was nominated\u00a0by industry professionals to be included on the Power List.<\/p>\n ‘This is absolutely nuts \u2013 I\u2019m extremely chuffed.’<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Sophus\u2019 latest research has explored biodiversity finance and infrastructure sustainability, with particular attention to Biodiversity Net Gain and biodiversity offsetting. His work has featured in the\u00a0Guardian<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the Times<\/em><\/a>, while he also made a guest appearance on\u00a0BBC Countryfile<\/em>\u00a0in 2021.<\/p>\n Alongside his work in academia, Sophus is part of Natural England\u2019s Biodiversity Metric expert advisory group, the UK Treasury\u2019s Biodiversity Economics working group, and was an expert contributor to UK Environmental Audit Committee report on Biodiversity and Ecosystems, and the Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology\u2019s POSTBrief on biodiversity net gain.<\/p>\n Sophus was keen to include the school and staff in his victory \u2018I am honoured to be included in the ENDS Report\u2019s Power List of influential environmental professionals.
