Tanya brings impressive expertise and motivation to her new role, and I am very much looking forward to supporting her. In congratulating Tanya, it would be remiss to not give a heartfelt thank you to Tracy Kivell, the outgoing Head of School, who has provided such dedicated and effective service. Thank you, Tracy!’

We asked Tanya about how she feels about her appointment and her vision for the school going forward.

‘I am honoured and thrilled about my recent appointment as the new head of school for the School of Anthropology and Conservation, stepping in the shoes of Tracy Kivell, who has done a remarkable job over the past 3 years during most turbulent times. The School of Anthropology and Conservation’s unique multi- and inter-disciplinary nature, recognising the links between human society, human evolution and the natural environment, and its excellence in both teaching and research, are the reasons I joined more than 10 years ago and continue to be excited to be a member. In our fast changing world, the school is in a unique position to address some the most pressing issues, debates and challenges that we are facing today. The school’s Climate and Environment Emergency commitment and its dedication to promoting a welcoming, inspiring, inclusive and supporting environment for both our students and staff are central to who we are and I really look forward to taking the school forth in the coming 2 years.’

Professor Tracy Kivell is soon due to finish her tenure as Head of School and we are excited to announce that Dr Tatyana Hulme (known … Read more

[124
