{"id":4877,"date":"2020-06-08T09:59:55","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T09:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=4877"},"modified":"2020-06-09T17:00:31","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T17:00:31","slug":"video-commemorating-dr-jane-goodall-delivering-the-annual-dice-lecture-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2020\/06\/08\/video-commemorating-dr-jane-goodall-delivering-the-annual-dice-lecture-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Video commemorating Dr Jane Goodall&#8217;s annual DICE Lecture now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World-renowned conservationist and ethologist Dr Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, delivered this year&#8217;s annual <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/dice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE)<\/a> Lecture.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place in a sold-out Woolf College, a video, featured below, has been put together featuring the highlights of Dr Goodall\u2019s talk, \u2018Gombe and Beyond: Chimpanzees, conservation and change\u2018, alongside a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=49Jp4I_-1fA&amp;feature=youtu.be&amp;fbclid=IwAR3xThKq69XN1WBJyL7_UTOk8iE0c54GqMI-9nJx7UkvqUoWrFudwOR0Y-M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">feature-length recording of the occasion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/557\/smith-bob\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bob Smith<\/a>, Director of DICE, says, &#8220;It was the perfect way to celebrate our 30<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary and being awarded a Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize. Dr Goodall is such a captivating speaker and we were privileged to hear all about her distinguished career and insights on conserving the natural world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/546\/kivell-tracy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tracy Kivell<\/a>, Head of School, concurred: &#8220;It was a such an honour to welcome Dame Jane Goodall to our School, not only as a leading voice in conservation, but also personally as a biological anthropologist. Her research fundamentally changed our understanding of chimpanzees and, in turn, our views on what it means to be human.
