{"id":4363,"date":"2020-01-16T16:59:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T16:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=4363"},"modified":"2020-01-16T16:59:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-16T16:59:16","slug":"dr-rajindra-puri-edits-special-issue-on-human-adaptation-to-biodiversity-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2020\/01\/16\/dr-rajindra-puri-edits-special-issue-on-human-adaptation-to-biodiversity-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Rajindra Puri edits special issue on Human Adaptation to Biodiversity Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/554\/puri-rajindra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rajindra Puri<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Anthropology, has overseen the publication of a <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/journal\/13280\/48\/12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">special issue<\/a> of the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/13280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AMBIO<\/a>, dedicated to the emerging field of Human Adaptation to Biodiversity Change, a science-policy topic which has been explored at the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/cbcd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centre for Biocultural Diversity <\/a>at Kent for the last decade.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/Ambio-cover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4365 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/Ambio-cover-thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"AMBIO front cover\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/Ambio-cover-thumbnail.jpg 250w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/files\/2020\/01\/Ambio-cover-thumbnail-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Edited by Professor Patricia Howard, Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utas.edu.au\/profiles\/staff\/imas\/Gretta-Pecl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gretta Pecl<\/a>, Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eci.ox.ac.uk\/people\/tthornton.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Thornton<\/a> and Dr Puri, this volume features ten articles that report on the development of conceptual frameworks, methods and policy tools to investigate a largely overlooked area of research on the dynamics of biocultural diversity, driven by climate change impacts and other drivers of biodiversity change (e.g. invasive species, habitat loss, over-exploitation, pollution).<\/p>\n<p>The impetus for the issue comes from the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/cbcd\/2018\/09\/10\/human-adaptation-to-biodiversity-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBCD research project HABC<\/a>, originally funded by ESPA-NERC, and a symposium panel sponsored by the CBCD at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.therai.org.uk\/conferences\/anthropology-weather-and-climate-change-2016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RAI 2016 Conference on Anthropology, Weather and Climate Change<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More publications by CBCD staff and fellows can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/cbcd\/publications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Rajindra Puri, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Anthropology, has overseen the publication of a special issue of the journal AMBIO, dedicated to the emerging field &hellip;
