{"id":4199,"date":"2019-11-29T13:01:23","date_gmt":"2019-11-29T13:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=4199"},"modified":"2019-11-29T13:01:23","modified_gmt":"2019-11-29T13:01:23","slug":"dr-daniela-peluso-organises-panel-for-the-american-and-canadian-anthropological-aaa-casca-meetings-on-changing-climates-in-vancouver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2019\/11\/29\/dr-daniela-peluso-organises-panel-for-the-american-and-canadian-anthropological-aaa-casca-meetings-on-changing-climates-in-vancouver\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Daniela Peluso organises panel for the American and Canadian Anthropological (AAA\/CASCA) Meetings on Changing Climates in Vancouver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology, Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/551\/peluso-daniela\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniela Peluso<\/a>, in conjunction with Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/anthropology-conservation\/people\/989\/mezzenzana-francesca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Francesca Mezzenzana<\/a>, have organised a panel for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americananthro.org\/AttendEvents\/landing.aspx?ItemNumber=14722\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American and Canadian Anthropological (AAA\/CASCA) Meetings<\/a> on <em>Changing Climates<\/em> as part of the Anthropology of Psychological Anthropology Society entitled <em>Empathy: underpinnings of broader global landscapes. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>The participants representing a broad range of geographical regions presented papers that relate empathy to current climate and environmental changes. The panel was facilitated by two specialist discussants. Both Daniela and Francesca focused particularly on empathy in regard to the relations of indigenous Amazonians to non-human others and the rainforest.<\/p>\n<p>Francesca and Daniela\u2019s latest panel builds on their previous workshop at the Cathedral Lodge entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2019\/05\/02\/conversations-on-empathy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Conversations on Empathy: An interdisciplinary encounter<\/em><\/a> organised by the School of Anthropology and Conservation.
